Engineered to meet the needs of their Pros, the 3DS combines the best in materials, fit systems, and customization. D30 Smart-foam has been the foundation of many of CCMs elite protective offerings as of late, and its application in the 3DS is flawless. D30 is a rate sensitive smart-foam, meaning its level of compression is dependent on the forces being exerted on it. Big impacts cause the foams to stiffen aggressively, while still having the ply-ability to stiffen and absorb impact from softer collisions. The next most prominent feature on the 3DS is the revamped Microdial III system, which supplements the traditional front-back adjustment with 360 degree adjustments. This provides a more comfortable, and more importantly a safer fitting helmet as eliminating any play in the helmets fit is essential to maximizing its effectiveness. Meanwhile, the traditional PE shell is supplemented with a new ABS sub-shell to provide an added level of lightweight high impact protection. Finally, lightweight EPP and memory foam comfort padding round out the liner of the helmet providing an excellent balance of comfort and high level protection.
